The papers printed here give an account of the proceedings of an Egyptian-German cross-cultural symposium hosted by the Center for Cultural and Technological Studies (IZKT) at the University of Stuttgart on July 4, 2008. It was the second symposium in a series of conferences started in 2006 with the purpose of establishing an Egyptian–German dialog on language and culture transfer (for the documentation of the first symposium cf.
